Annie Mae Thomas was born on March 12, 1942 in Jefferson City, Missouri to the union of Johnathan Ramsey and Madge "Maggie" Ramsey. She was the 5 th oldest of six children: Hildred Artis, Kenneth Artis, Madaline Davis, and Annias Ramsey. Annie confessed a hope in Christ at 10 years old at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Poplar Grove, Arkansas.
Annie received her ninth grade education in East Saint Louis Public School System. She united in wedlock to Willie Thomas Sr. in 1960. She moved to East St. Louis, IL. in 1961 and had six children, Willie G. Thomas Jr., Julie A. Thomas, Ronald Thomas Sr., Jeffery W. Thomas, Lionel D. Thomas, and Sylvester Thomas. She also started attending Straightway Baptist Church in East St. Louis, IL.
Annie worked as a bartender for over 30 years at the Red Door. Her family and friends will miss her beautiful spirit, smile, and huge heart! She was the epitome of a Good Samaritan because she would help family, friends, and people in the community and welcome them with open arms.
Annie departed this life surrounded by family on Friday, March 26, 2021 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL. She leaves to cherish her memory five loving children Willie (Rochelle) Thomas Jr. of Cahokia, IL; Julie A Thomas of O'Fallon, IL; Ronald (Yohontias) Thomas Sr. of St. Louis, MO and Annias Ramsey of Belleville, IL; 21 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
