Anne P. Broaden was born on March 22, 1948 in Louise, Mississippi to the union of the late Buster Lewis and the late WillElla Boyd. At an early age, the family moved to East St. Louis, Illinois. Anne was educated in East St. Louis School District #189. She confessed a hope in Christ in November of 1962 and became active with Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. She served faithfully on the Usher Board.

On December 16, 1966, Anne married her soulmate for life. She had a deep love for her husband, mother, daughters, sisters, brothers, friends and family. She loved herself so she would have strength of heart and mind to give to others. She was a very special person to all that knew her. She helped and touched many lives. Even through all that she was going through, Anne was able to put a smile on her face and keep a positive attitude.

Anne found employment with Southern Illinois University working with the Upward Bound Program from which she retired. After retirement, Anne still kept busy, working with Head Start. When Anne was healthy, she enjoyed bowling and loved to travel; doing a girls trip with friends annually. (The Bahama Mamas!!)

Anne departed this life on June 1, 2018 in the comfort of her home. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn McKay and Geraldine McKay.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Bobby Broaden; two daughters, Bridget Broaden and BryAnne Broaden; brothers, Coleman Boyd, Arthur (Pairlee) Thompson, William (Margaret) McKay and George McKay; one sister, Londa (Tyrone) Hunter; numerous other relatives and friends.
