Obituary

Anna Claggett was born on September 17, 1943 on Kerr Island, IL to the union of Arjentry Mitchell and Louise Anderson. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at New Salem Baptist Church.

Anna received her Bachelor's degree from St. Louis University. She worked at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, IL. She enjoyed the fellowship of her church members at New Salem Baptist Church, co-workers, extended family members to include aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Anna was known for making sure everyone had what they needed when it came down to her work duties both on her job and as the church treasurer and Pastor Brown's personal secretary.   She loved serving in her role at the church and even in her hospital bed she wanted to make sure Pastor Brown received the church books.

Anna was a hard worker, being a single parent raising 4 children was not easy. She sacrificed much for her children and we honor her for her love and compassion. She once said one of her best characteristics was patience. She was patient with her children, and she only wanted the best for them. She will be truly missed; she is the best and that smile would melt hearts.  She is preceded in death by her beloved sisters and brothers to include Raymond Anderson, Ruby Pearl Berry, Metro Marceline Pierson, Lolita Davis, Rodney Davis, Bruce Davis, Mike Davis and Matthew (Lump) Davis, Jr.

Anna departed this life on Saturday, May 2, 2020 .  Her brothers and sisters will deeply miss her, James Russell Anderson, George Arthur Anderson, Michael Sylvan Anderson, Dorese Anderson, Denise Towns, and Tig Davis. She is survived by her children, Charles Edward Claggett, III of Maryland, Carvel Duane Claggett of Illinois, Tina Louise (Roy) Greer of Georgia, Erwin Cranston (Trina) Claggett of Missouri. She was loved and adored by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
