Amanda Lee Burgess was born on April 24, 1949 in Kingstree, South Carolina to Fannie P. Burgess and David Burgess. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age uniting with Siloam Missionary Baptist Church in Kingstree, SC, where she served on the Mother's Board in the choir.

Amanda attended Kingstree Sr. High and later Kingstree Vocational School where she received her Associates Degree in Psychology. Amanda relocated to East St. Louis, IL in 2018.

She is preceded in death by both parents, her brothers, Herbert, Fred and Paul Burgess; her sisters, Henrietta and Jeanette Burgess.

Amanda departed this life on August 29, 2024. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her son, Eldred Wayne (Vonzetta) Burgess of Fairview Heights, IL; daughter, Harriet (Dwayne) Davis of San Antonio, TX; sister, Susie Mae Burgess of North Carolina; granddaughter, Alayshia Davis, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
