Agnes Roberta
Connor
Nov 26, 1933 — Aug 25, 2022
Mrs. Agnes Roberta Connor (nee Brown) affectionately known as "Dump", life's journey began on November 26, 1933, in Newport, Illinois as the fifth of twelve children born to the union of Mr. Charles Frank and Mrs. Rudell (nee Lewis) Brown, who both preceded her in death.
As her journey continued, Agnes matriculated through Madison, Illinois School District, graduating from Dunbar High School as a member of the class of 1952, later attending State Community College (SCC) in East St. Louis, Illinois.
Her career path led her to not only, Obear-Nester Glass Company in East St. Louis, Illinois, but also to her forever love, Mr. Sammie Connor, Jr. who she married, March 1, 1957. This union created their wonderful family consisting of six boys and one girl. Her forever love preceded her in death in March of 2013, but not before they celebrated 56 years of love, life, and family!
Agnes business and entrepreneur mindset would take her from Polyurethane and Wencol, Incorporated as a laboratory analyst to lending her cooking and baking gifts to the East St. Louis community as the owner and operator of Pisces Restaurant, specializing in fish dinners and her infamous pound cake.
Her faith was strong and demonstrated at an early age through her acceptance of Christ through baptism. During her faith journey, she attended Moore's Temple Church of God in Christ, under the late Elder N.A. Moore. She later joined and remained a faithful member of the Gateway Area Bible Fellowship Church under the leadership of the late Dr. Levi King, Sr., and most recently, Pastor Levi "Too" King, during which she served time as a dedicated member of the Senior Choir, Pastoral Care, Culinary Team and her most notable service to the church's hospitality/usher board, where she was known as the best no nonsense financial treasurer to hold this office.
On August 25, 2022 at 6:50 p.n., surrounded by the love of her children, Mrs. Agnes Roberta Connor peacefully received her rest joining those loved ones who preceded her in death, to include her son, Nathaniel Connor, in addiction to her nine siblings, Margaret Hemingway, Dorothy McKinney, Edna Brown, Lorraine Brown, Marilyn Tennie, Charles Brown, Dawoud Hakim, Lewis (Artie) Brown and Iris Nadine Silas.
Agnes's life, legacy, and smile will always be remembered and cherished by her six children, Robert Connors, Edmond (Patricia Parker) Brown, Vanessa Hunt, Marcellous (Sarah) Connor, Aaron (Marquette') Connor, and James Connor; twelve grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; her sister, Ms. JoAnn Williams; her brother, Mr. Clifford Brown; and a host of nieces nephews, cousins, family, church family and friends.
