Aabrial L.
"Coke" Johnson
May 4, 1977 — Nov 4, 2024
Mr. Aabrial Lamar (Coke) Johnson, a king, the son of Ida Mae Johnson and the late Leroy Goree was born on May 4, 1977 in East St. Louis, IL. He attended East St. Louis Public School District. Just recently he professed his faith in Jesus Christ at Holy Olivette Missionary Baptist Church in East St. Louis IL in October 2024. He also attended the Church of Jesus Christ in which grabbed his heart to continue to follow God. He later departed on November 4, 2024 in Barnes Jewish Hospital.
Coke most favorite person in the world was his mother, Ida Johnson. He made sure she was well taken care of and loved. He sometimes thought he was her father instead of her son. He always said he wanted to leave this earth before her because he would never be able to handle the loss of losing Ida first. Now he has passed that torch down to his siblings. Coke was a very stubborn and stern man. He showed tough love, but he knew the meaning of being heartfelt. He was a man-made leader and was not taking no mess from nobody. As he would say, "Don't play with me."
He met his wife, best friend, and life partner Tamika Nicole Johnson in 1992. The union was blessed with sharing 8 children. Coke and Tamika started their real estate business, A & T Management, in May 2000. Coke enjoyed learning new things when it came to the real estate business. He had a great mind to always think about what he wanted to do next. Coke loved to eat good food, especially chicken. Coke and Tamika came up with several recipes together. This encouraged them to open a restaurant in August 2021 named Rise and Shine Homecooking. His next adventure was going to be driving trucks over the road.
Coke loved to protect his loved ones which brought him to love guns. He went to gun ranges for sport. He received his carry and conceal license in Missouri. He taught everyone around him how to be conscious of their surroundings. Coke loved to travel, go fishing, and preach life lessons to the ones who would listen. He always kept it "100".
He had a generous spirit and pleasant personality, and he was loved by many people. He helped many people out during his lifetime on earth and after he departed. He was a organ donor which he saved 3 lives. Coke truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures (because he was tight on those pockets) and chatting with friends and family. He had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. He will always be missed and loved no matter what.
His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children, Natosha Edwards, Aabrial Johnson Jr., Jai'Mika Lavington (stepdaughter), Aabri'Ana Johnson, Rashawn Johnson, Tamitrial Johnson, Aabrion Johnson-Wells and Aamorye Johnson-Wells. He is also survived by his siblings, John Johnson, Antonio F. (Katina) Johnson, Elliot (Angela) Johnson, Willard L. Johnson, LaShonda (Will) Johnson, LaRhonda Johnson, Dorena Johnson, Sidney Johnson, Kyle (Shanell) Johnson, Christa Johnson, Leroy Goree Jr., Lisa Goree and preceded in death by Rodney Goree. He had a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
